You were in the final minutes of your football game at your home stadium in Marlboro Township. Your team was leading, and you couldn’t wait for the game to end so that you could celebrate your team’s win. Suddenly, you received a big hit and immediately embarked on the path of treatment. With medical experts’ help for traumatic brain injury in Marlboro Township, you can eliminate the condition’s risk and lead a healthy life following treatment.

    Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

A traumatic brain injury is the result when you suffer a blow to your head from a blunt object. Consequently, your brain will jerk to the front and back inside your skull, which results in the damage of your nerve fibers.

You may have different traumatic brain injuries depending on the accident’s impact; however, the standard classification ranges from mild, moderate, to severe TBI. When you have a concussion, you will have a mild injury, and you may experience temporary loss of consciousness.

On the other hand, a contusion develops when you have a blow to your countercoup area in your brain. The brain will suffer an indirect injury as a result of the impact. In the end, you may experience a brain hematoma. In this type of injury, a major blood vessel in your brain will rapture, causing blood clot formation.

To identify whether you have a traumatic brain injury, you should watch out for the symptoms, which may vary as explained below:

    1.      Loss of Consciousness

When you lose consciousness, it is one telltale sign that you may have a TBI. In such a scenario, you lose touch with your present surrounding and sense of reality.

You may also experience memory loss when you wake up. You may resume consciousness and ask about what happened. Everyday things which you wouldn’t forget become an uphill task to remember.

    2.      Poor Concentration Span

In some instances following a traumatic brain injury, you may have trouble concentrating on one task for an extended period. You may feel the urge to stop it halfway and embark on another. Additionally, fun activities which you would previously enjoy no longer become exciting.

You may also become emotionally unstable. It comes as no surprise when you become irritable to different triggers that you may quickly react to them. In other scenarios, you will have feelings of depression and anxiety attacks.

    3.      Sleep Disorders

You may also find yourself having difficulty falling asleep after experiencing a traumatic brain injury. Alternatively, you may drop asleep but have trouble maintaining sleep throughout the night. Thus, most nights, you will find yourself struggling to sleep as you frequently toss and turn in bed.

    4.      Persistent Headaches

Unbearable headaches resistant to painkillers are another common symptom synonymous with a TBI. You may also experience seizures and vomiting together with headaches.

When you have a traumatic brain injury, it is crucial to undergo treatment in time. Your doctor will conduct a neurological and imaging examination to ascertain the extent and position of your injury. Prompt treatment is essential for your recovery.
