Internet is more prevalent than ever. More products and services can be found online. This includes personal training. You would coach your clients through their computers or phones while they still did the work. How can you start as an online personal trainer?

How to become an online personal trainer:

    Obtain your diploma

    Earn certifications

Choose your fitness area of specialisation

    Create a Website

    Develop your client base

This guide will walk you through all the steps to becoming an online personal trainer and give some advice on how to price your service. This is a career guide you want to take advantage of if you are interested!

How do I start online personal training?

Let’s dive deeper into the steps to becoming an online personal trainer.

    Get Your Diploma

What is required to become a Personal Trainer? Technically, no.

It would be best to have a competitive advantage over other personal trainers. It is easier to stand out if you have more education.

You must enrol in a college or a university before earning your diploma.

Start your personal trainer career in Ohio

Ohio, nestled in the heart of the Midwest, boasts a rich tapestry of opportunities for personal trainers looking to establish a thriving career in the fitness industry. With its vibrant cities, diverse communities, and a strong emphasis on health and wellness, Ohio provides an ideal landscape for aspiring trainers to flourish. Whether you aim to join established gyms in bustling urban centres like Columbus or Cleveland or prefer to cater to the wellness needs of suburban neighbourhoods, Ohio’s supportive fitness culture and health-conscious population create a favourable environment for personal trainers seeking to inspire positive transformations in the lives of their clients. As the state continues to embrace new trends in fitness and wellness, embarking on a personal trainer career in Ohio offers the chance to make a meaningful impact and build a rewarding and sustainable professional journey.

Considering errors and omissions insurance in Ohio is essential for yoga instructors. Knowing the insurance coverage required for your profession can provide valuable protection for your career and financial well-being.

    Get Certified

Certification will make you stand out from the crowd as a personal coach, just as a diploma would.

Some colleges may offer training for the Certified Personal Trainer Certification through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

As your online career in personal training begins, earning the Certified Personal Trainer certification is a great way to get started.

According to the NASM site, the prerequisites for the NASM CPT certification exam are:

You must at least have a GED

The Automated External Defibrillator Certification (AED) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification (CPR) are required.

There are 120 questions, but only 20 of them are research questions. The final score is only 100 out of 120.

The NASM-CPT test takes two hours, and you must score at least 70% to pass.

You can request a retest if you do not pass the first test. You will be charged for the NASM CPT exam every time you take it.

    Choose Your Fitness Specialization

There are many different fitness disciplines to choose from, including yoga, weightlifting and group exercises. You can also select training for particular groups, such as pregnant women, the elderly, or people with disabilities.

It’s better to focus on one or two specific areas.

You will be more trustworthy to your customers if you can prove your expertise with certifications.

    Create a Website

A website will be necessary to promote your business online.

We are creating and hosting a website more accessible and faster than ever before, even if you start with a free site builder.

Drag-and-drop elements can be used to express the design that you are trying to achieve. These elements can be customised to make your website feel less ‘cookie cutter’.

It is also straightforward to purchase a domain.

Create your website. You need a page with information about you, your certifications and diplomas, and your experience.

    Develop Your Client Base

Once your website is live, you can start promoting yourself online.

Ask your friends, family and colleagues at college if they know of any leads. With time, your website will also begin to receive more traffic.

Treat your clients to a high-quality service as you gain them. You want everyone to feel safe, even if you offer personal training online rather than in person.

Online personal training is the same price as classes with an instructor in the same classroom, so giving every type your best is essential.

Listen to your clients’ needs, treat them respectfully, and personalise your lessons. Your client base will quickly grow.
