No homeowner wants to deal with expensive plumbing problems, especially if they come with little warning; however, many plumbing issues will give you a hint of an underlying problem before they become a pricey emergency repair. Read below to discover four big signs that it’s time to call a plumber.

    1. High Water Bill.

You can keep the cost of big plumbing repairs McKeesport PA low by not ignoring the common signs of plumbing issues. For example, if your water bill is much higher than it usually is with no logical explanation, then it should be an indicator that your house has a water line leak. Call a licensed plumber, and he or she can detect it with special equipment before tearing up your floor or walls.

    1. Toilet Constantly Running.

One of the most irritating noises to hear in your home is the sound of a constantly running toilet. Not only does it mean you’re still using water long after using the toilet, it usually means something in the tank is malfunctioning. Your local plumber can diagnose the issue and hopefully repair it, rather than you attempting to pull and set a new one yourself.

    1. Water (or Sewage) in the Yard.

A common sign of a leak in the sprinkler system or the sewer system in your home is a flooded yard. If any unexplained standing water or sewage makes an appearance in your front or backyard, then it is time to call a plumber for an inspection.

    1. Unexplained Foul Scent.

A noticeable sign of a sewage leak under your home is unexplained foul scents lingering in your bathroom or kitchen. This is a problem that should be diagnosed by a licensed professional, as he or she will need to complete a smoke test to find the leak underneath the foundation of your home.

Although this list is not extensive, you should hire a plumber for an inspection if your home is experiencing one of these issues.
